In a move designed to strengthen its management team as it expands its operations and business in the U.S., MLily USA has promoted Stephen Chen to president and hired 30-year mattress industry veteran Alan Eisenberg to replace him as vice president of sales.

Chen has been with MLily since 2014 in a number of sales and management posts and now has responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day business operations in the United States. Eisenberg had been with Protect-A-Bed since 2007, serving as the sleep accessories supplier’s senior vice president of sales since 2009.

“Over the past five years, Stephen has really helped us build a strong sales team and open new doors for us throughout the country,” said James Ni, chairman and CEO of Healthcare Co. Ltd., parent company of MLily USA. “He understands our vision and culture, and we believe he will help facilitate our rapid expansion in the U.S. market.”

Before joining MLily, Chen spent 25 years in the telecommunications industry, where he worked in a variety of sales, sales management and customer service posts, overseeing B2B sales and marketing of telecommunications and managed IT products. Much of his telecommunications career was spent with Windstream Communications, which focuses on telecommunications products for small and medium-sized customers.

“This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of the industry’s most technologically advanced companies as we expand our U.S. footprint,” Chen said. “These advancements give us the ability to provide a good night’s sleep to consumers and healthy margins for our retail partners.”

Eisenberg began his mattress industry career in 1986 as a key account manager for Sealy. He later spent a decade as vice president of national accounts at Serta. Prior to joining Protect-A-Bed, he was senior vice president of sales at Stainsafe for two years.
